POD2 Comments WOOHOO

Okay i better write this down before i forget! hahah

And so the comments were:

1. Horns at the interlude towards the last chorus sounds too muffled, it is an important part so it needs to come out more!
2. Don't write too thick harmonies if I intend to record a real choir at the last chorus, probably can have sop and alto sing unison just to thicken up the sound.
3. Maybe have all the instruments come in once again at the ending after Amelia's last sentence, to end the song "properly"? hahah
4. Michael Spicer: "Sounds like a Singapore song!" DDDDD: NOOOOOO.

POD 2 PRESENTATION NOWWWWW

I'm gonna be presenting in about 20 mins. Just got all my stuff settled. Hope it'll all turn out well! (:

3. The sexiest bassist Yinghao
4. The best classical vocalist Amelia
5. The best rock male vocalist Jonadab
6. The ever helpful classmates, press record button, set up and tear down and all

and of course the best.. ahem. songwriter and arranger :P HAHAH. I'm kidding about that. But thanks a million to all those above who helped me! :D

And oh my, I think I'm really getting a sympho rock sound at the back. Shiok boss (: Okay now it's everything else before the presentation. I think the score's gonna kill me maximum.

Drums Recording...

Recorded drums on friday. Quite insane. Had jonathan to help me play drums, once again.. and dingchao daniel and yinghao were there to help. THANKS SO MUCH GUYS! (:

At first, we wanted to use 12 mics: kick, subkick, hi hat, snare top, snare bottom, tom1, 2 and 3, ride, and overheads left and right, and room mic. But after setting up everything we remembered studio C had only 8 inputs so.. gave up the ride, snare bottom, room mic and tom2.

All that setup time took far longer than i expected, almost 2 hours before we started recording. But jon's really good, he just kept listening and practicing over and over, and completed it almost perfectly in 2 takes :D

Now I'm down to mixing, recording guitar and vocals, arranging abit more and then scoring. ONE MORE WEEK!

POD2, too soon!

hmm okay so i still can't quite decide what i wanna do for POD2 (yeah i know it's 12th nov already :/ ).

well my initial idea was to do a jazz acappella piece, and the panel encouraged me to do it. but later i seemed to have drifted to wanting to try something orchestral and choral(to suit the festive season? hehe). and now, im getting even more ambitious. i want to make it more epic, by adding a rock element to this orchestral piece. sympho metal? nahh not to extent of metal.. but somewhat like that idea. hahah

lyrics wise.. yup it'll be about Dreams. typical but.. something most significant in my mind now.

woohoo! POD1 is over (: i'm quite happy. hahaha

comments the panel gave:

• to consider for one lead singer in the song only => more constant on the emotions
• relook at some angles
• sounds like a mat rock song?! hahahaha

hahah okay improvements i wanna make for final pod:

• edit the plot of the story a little, and refilm some scenes
• re-record vocals and guitar
• work on the arrangement: changing some vocal harmonies and adding on to arrangement
• full-score!

Countdown.. TWO DAYS.

here are some pictures taken during filming! but i'm gonna refilm the whole lip sync scene again because the frames are too still. kinda sad that all the efforts to carry tons of equipments, to borrow studio D, and the time spent that long night all wasted.. but nahh still gonna redo it to hopefully get better footages!

hahaha. i know my pod song is just another typical chinese emo ballad and my music video is uncreative and certain parts are similar to our previous CD (character development) and/or our dvpt2 video.. yup i get feedback about that as well. hahaha.

sad to know there's nothing special about it, :( honestly i feel my mind is absolutely not creative. oh well. pod presentation on 10august now. hope everything goes well and people dont get too cheenafied and bored *fingers crossed*

OH MY, HI AUGUST!

wahahaha feels good to see that my music video is finally completing and there are just a few more gaps to fill up (:

finally after 7 days of filming over a span of three weeks, im seeing that the video is linking up. the sense of fulfilment is damn shiok, because i've been so stressed and emo about it that now seeing its almost done make me feel, AWESOME! hahah.

but i guess i still need to refilm some stuff, since now there's one extra week, i'll probably redo the scenes that are not very satisfactory.

and next i've to worry about my mix. to mix a trio is really not as easy as i thought :/

NG SCENES!

hahah yayy just finished a few more scenes yesterday, and here are two funny NG scenes from yesterday!

zaki is one funny guy. hahaha but kinda sad this second video's kinda dark because i couldnt finish filming before the sun set, so gotta refilm the whole scene again :(

yayyy, filmed two scenes on wednesday, and finished editing them yesterday (:

but i have problems with the camera.. i just know i shouldnt be using a mini DV to shoot, but they dont allow the big external hard disk camera that i used last year! ):

anyway, the next scene will be on monday. a steamboat scene!

i'm seriously considering to drop the idea of filming now..

although the song is almost done, left with some lead guitar lines to record and mixing, that should be about it. but oh man HK for a week, then gotta settle cover song and cmcc AP, i really dont think i can finish filming or editing :( sighhhh.

but i really wanna do it. HOW?!

12TH JULY?!

WHY IS POD DUE ON THE 12TH JULY?!

because any earlier than 2 Aug will mean i cannot film the music video, and therefore means i'll have to change my skill sets. argh! :(

POD1!

Yup yup! here's the progress of what i've done for POD1. completed the demo today. but still some parts missing here and there. will try to upload it the next time because i don't know how to upload using blogger.. hahaha

yeah. recorded drums and half of the guitar parts last week. and it'll be vocals this coming wednesday! kinda worried there won't be enough time to record because there's only 4 hours for 3 vocal parts.

and as for the MV, i'm probably gonna drop the idea of Stop Motion because i'm not familiar enough with it and there's not enough time time time. so will just be doing a normal video, and PRRRRROBABLY featuring Christopher and Kaye from year2 as the male and female lead. haha. need to start working on my storyboard really really soon, because filming this time round will be tough, since it's now a solo project. phew..

so POD presentation is over, and i've decided:

Work1:

Stop Motion Music Video with a combination of actual video shooting and stop motion clips. Skill Sets? Songwriting and DVPT! :D

Work2:

A Cappella JAZZ piece! So motivated to really do jazz after what they've commented (: but skill sets will be Arranging and Songwriting instead of performance or remt. phew, not confident of songwriting as the skill set :/ hahaha.
